We have created a Glossary for some of the words that may come up when using BoothBook as well as used in technical terminology.
- A-Record - These are a type of DNS record and are used to point a domain or subdomain to the correct IP address.
- Cache - cache is a section of your computer's memory where your temporary internet files are stored.
- Canned Responses - A templated message that has been previously created and saved to use in response to repetitive emails and messages.
- CSS - (Cascading Style Sheet) CSS is used to define styles for your web pages, including the design, layout and variations in display for different devices and screen sizes.
- Domain - A domain is used to identify your website, it’s the name used to direct people to your website that you own.
- DNS Record - (Domain Name System) is used to point an incoming domain towards the IP address of the server.
- Favicon - A shortcut icon used on a website or webpage, these are typically displayed in the address bar of a browser accessing the site or next to the site name in a user's list of bookmarks.
- HTML - (Hypertext Markup Language) is a type of language used for web pages, this can be used to create a website.
- Leads - A potential customer, this Leads information can be added using the Lead Capture form.
- Payment Gateway - A type of payment service that authorises credit card or direct payments for businesses.
- Sub Domain - A subdomain is part of another primary domain, so on BoothBook this would be (booking.mybusiness.com)
- Scheduled Notifications - Notifications created to a set time schedule, these can be used as reminders in the form of Emails and SMS.
- SEO - (Search Engine Optimisation) means to increase the quantity and quality of website traffic through search engine results.
- Server - A server is a computer designed to process requests and deliver data to another computer over the internet or a local network.
- Spoofing - Spoofing is the act of disguising a communication from an unknown source as being from a known, trusted source.
- Variables - These are used to personalise business emails, SMS messages, contracts and invoices by referencing information that has already been collected.
- Widget - A widget is an application that enables a user to perform a function or access a service.
