You can offer a customer more than one option on a single proposal, for example a smaller package, a mid-range one and a full package. Each option is a separate quote on the lead, and the proposal shows them as tabs the customer can click between.
Why offer options
Giving someone a choice of packages often works better than a single price. They compare your options with each other rather than with another supplier, and plenty of people pick the middle one. Two or three options is usually enough. More than that tends to slow people down.
Setting up the options
Each option is its own quote on the lead.
Open Leads and click into the lead.
Build the first quote with everything included in that option.
Add another quote and build the second option.
Repeat for a third option if you want one.
Create the proposal, or open it if it already exists.
The Quotes element on the proposal picks up every quote on the lead and shows each one as a tab.
How the customer uses them
The customer clicks between the tabs to compare the options, then picks one and accepts it. Only the option they choose becomes part of the booking.
Options can’t be combined. If a customer likes the photo booth from one option and the backdrop from another, they can’t merge the two themselves. That’s why each option needs to be a complete package with a complete price, rather than a list of parts to mix and match.
If you want customers to be able to add individual extras on top, use upsells instead. Upsells sit alongside the quote and let the customer tick the extras they want.
Naming your options
Give each option a name that tells the customer what kind of choice it is, such as Essentials, Signature and Ultimate, or 2 hours, 3 hours and 4 hours. Avoid names like Option 1 and Option 2, which make the customer open every tab to work out the difference.
Keep the differences between options clear. If option 2 is option 1 plus a guest book and an extra hour, say so in the package description.
Common questions
Can a lead have more than one proposal? Yes, but you would usually send just one proposal per lead and put the choices in it as quote options. Sending several proposals to the same person tends to confuse them.
Can I put the options in a different order? The tabs follow the quotes on the lead, so arrange the quotes in the order you want them to appear.
What happens to the options the customer didn’t choose? They stay on the lead as quotes. Only the option the customer accepted goes into the booking.
