How services, units, packages, products and variations fit together

How services, units, packages, products and variations fit together

The Store is where you build what clients can book and buy.

It brings together your services, the availability for those services, the packages you offer and the products that can be included or sold separately. These parts work together so clients can see the right options while you keep control of what is available.

A simple way to think about the Store is:

  • A service is the main thing you offer.

  • Units control how many of that service are available.

  • A package is an option within a service.

  • A product is an item that can be included in a package or offered separately.

  • Variations are managed from the product editor.

For example, you may offer two different booth services. Each service can have its own availability and its own packages. Those packages can include products such as an attendant, printed items or props. You can then offer other products separately as client add-ons or upsells.

Services and units

A service is the main item a client is booking.

Services give your Store its overall structure. They help clients understand the different types of work you offer and let you keep availability separate for each one.

Each service can have a different number of available units. If you have one type of booth available once and another type available several times, each service can reflect its own availability.

This is useful when your services have different capacity. The availability for one service does not need to match the availability for another.

Services can also have images, which help clients see the difference between the options you offer.

Packages

Packages are assigned to services.

A package gives clients a specific option for a service, usually with its own price and included items. You can have several packages under the same service, so clients can choose the option that best suits their booking.

For example, one service may have a basic package and a larger package. Another service can have completely different packages, pricing and included products.

Packages can also have images, which make it easier for clients to understand what they are choosing.

The package editor includes sections for:

  • Details

  • Included Products

  • Pricing

  • Limit Visibility

Use the Included Products section to choose the items that come with the package. You can add products individually or use Copy from when you want to start with the included products from another package.

Products

Products are the individual items you can sell or include.

You can add products inside a package, offer them separately as add-ons or upsells, or make them available as digital add-ons. Products can also be used for additions such as extra hours.

A product can be included in a package at no additional charge, or it can be available for the client to add separately. This gives you flexibility to build complete packages while still offering clients choices.

Products can have their own image, name, category, description and SKU. The image helps clients understand the item, especially when they are choosing between similar products or adding items to their booking.

Product types

Products can be set up as rentable, consumable or digital.

A rentable product is something the client rents and does not keep.

A consumable product is something the client buys and keeps.

A digital product is a file or URL delivered digitally.

Choose the product type based on what the client receives. This helps you set up the product in a way that matches how it is being sold.

Quantity and stock

The Quantity/Stock tab controls how many of a product are available.

You can set the quantity available for each product. This could be one of something limited, or a much larger number of something you can sell repeatedly.

You can also choose whether the client can select a quantity.

Enable customer quantity selection when clients should be able to choose how many they want. This is useful for products where a client may want one item for one booking and several for another.

Leave quantity selection off when the product should only be added once or when you need to control the quantity yourself.

Pricing and client-facing offers

The Pricing tab is where you set the product price and related sales settings.

Product pricing includes a price and a price type, such as Flat price. You can also select tax rates for the product.

The same area lets you choose whether the product is:

  • Available as an upsell in the Client Portal

  • On sale

Use the Client Portal upsell option when you want existing clients to be able to add the product after they have booked. Use the sale option when you want to show that the product is currently offered at a reduced price.

Variations and visibility

Products have their own Variations tab. Variations are managed at the product level, alongside product details, quantity and stock, pricing and visibility.

The product editor also includes Limit Visibility. This lets you control where a product is shown, while package visibility is managed from the package editor.

Build the Store in this order when you are setting up a new offering: create the service, set the available units, add the packages for that service, then add the products that should be included or sold separately.
