How to take payments via iDEAL (Wero)

You can take payments via iDEAL through Stripe. iDEAL payments can only be charged in euros (EUR, €).

iDEAL is currently transitioning to a new payment method called Wero. The migration starts in late 2026, with iDEAL expected to be phased out during 2027 and 2028.

Connect to Stripe first

Make sure you're connected to Stripe before you continue. See How to connect to Stripe.

Enable iDEAL in Stripe

  1. Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.

  2. Select the Settings cog in the top right.

  3. Go to Payments, then Payment methods.

  4. If you see a list of accounts, select the three-dot menu and choose Manage Configuration.

  5. Find iDEAL in the list.

  6. Select iDEAL, then select Enable.

After you enable iDEAL

Your customers will now see iDEAL as a payment option at checkout, for orders charged in euros. If a customer pays using iDEAL, you'll see it marked as an iDEAL payment in your Stripe Dashboard.
