V1 to V2 migration guide: what moves, what does not and what to rebuild

Migrating from V1 to V2 is fully automatic. It takes the data from your V1 account and creates a brand new V2 account, migrating everything across without you having to move it by hand.

What gets migrated

Artwork, automations, bookings, branding, business settings, client portal settings, canned responses, connected accounts, contracts, discounts and coupons, files, invoices, leads, job sheets, manual payments, packages, payment methods, payments, products, reps, services, system settings, tasks, units, users, vehicles, venues and widgets all migrate automatically.

The following are NOT currently migrated:

  • Migrating Automations history and Conversations history is still in progress.

  • Staff permissions - for any user who's not an Admin, permissions can be re-assigned after migration.

  • Webforms and Proposals is being actively worked on and would need to be re-created after migration.

  • Migrating BoothBook Photo Templates is still in progress.

If you’re already trialling V2

If you’ve been trying V2 out separately before migrating, be aware that migrating your V1 data does not bring it into that existing trial account. It creates an entirely new V2 account instead, so your trial and your migrated account will be two separate things.

How long it takes

This depends on the size of your account, specifically how many data points you have. As a rough guide, around a thousand data objects could take up to twenty minutes. The more data you have, the longer it takes.

What happens while migration is running

Your V1 account and its forms are disabled during migration to avoid data loss, so it’s worth running this during off peak hours rather than in the middle of a busy day.

While migration is in progress, don’t edit your V1 account, and staff should be logged out. Booking and enquiry forms are temporarily unavailable, so any new leads or bookings submitted during this window won’t be captured. No automated emails or texts go out, and customers won’t be able to make online payments until it’s finished.

What happens to your subscription

Your subscription doesn’t change. You’re grandfathered into your current plan exactly as it is.

If you want to change plan, switch to paying annually instead of monthly, or pay in your own currency, you can do that afterward from your billing page inside V2.

Can you go back afterward?

Yes, reverting the migration is possible if you decide V2 isn’t for you.

What won’t happen is anything you’ve since put into V2 being carried back into V1. The longer you use V2 before deciding, the further V1 and V2 drift apart, and the more manual work it becomes to go back. If reverting is even a possibility for you, make that decision as early as you can rather than waiting.

What to do after migrating

A few things need doing on your end once the migration is complete.

Reconnect your payment gateways and any third party apps, since these don’t carry across authenticated. Update any custom domains or DNS settings if you’re pointing a vanity domain at your branding. Check your automations and switch them back on. Review your settings properly before pointing customers at the new account. And update any embedded forms or widgets on your own website that are still linking to your V1 account.

Before you start

Read through everything that’s covered by the migration and be sure you’re comfortable with it before you begin.

The migration cannot be paused once it’s started, and you’re responsible for reviewing your migrated data properly before putting the new account to use.
