How to enable conversation chats on entities

This is the setting that lets you add comments, chats, or notes to a job, a contact, a venue, a task, a project or a vehicle, giving your team a dedicated place to discuss that specific record. Whatever you call it internally, comments, chats, notes, or just discussing a job, a contact or a venue with your team, this is the feature that switches it on.

Where to turn it on

Go to Settings, then Conversations. Scroll down to Add Conversations to Entities.

What enabling it actually does

When you enable it for an entity type, conversations appear in that entity’s list view, and a Comments tab becomes available on the drawer for every record of that type.

Which entity types support this

Six entity types support it: Tasks, Jobs, Contacts, Venues, Projects and Vehicles.

Enable it on Tasks, and every task gets its own Comments tab, so your team can discuss that specific piece of work. Enable it on Contacts, and you’ve got a running place to keep notes on a particular contact. Enable it on Venues, and you can discuss a venue with your team directly, access details, loading information, whatever comes up. Jobs, Projects and Vehicles all work the same way, each giving you a Comments tab scoped to that one record.

Jobs have this switched on by default. Everything else needs enabling here first.

What you’ll see once it’s enabled

Open an entity of that type from its list, and you’ll see a Comments tab on the drawer.

Inside, you’ll see any conversation the team has already had about that record, and a message area underneath it. Type a comment and send it, and it’s stored against that entity from then on, visible to anyone who opens it afterward.
