Managing third party app data

Connected third party apps can submit data straight to an entity, storing what they send inside the system rather than leaving it sitting in a separate app entirely.

The Data tab

The moment a third party app submits data to an entity, a Data tab appears on it. Inside, you’ll see a card for each third party app that’s actually posted something, and within each card, the fields, labels and values that app has published.

The kinds of data a third party app can publish

This covers things like a backdrop selection, a template selection, a start screen selection, gallery URLs, and custom data objects built by the app itself. In short, more or less anything a connected third party wants to store against a record.

Editing or deleting an entry

You can edit or delete anything that’s been published here.

Editing only ever covers the fields the app originally created, and how much you can actually change depends on the type of data involved. Text fields, ID fields and image fields are straightforward to edit directly. Anything more complex than that is only editable by the connected app itself, not from your side.

Deleting removes that row entirely. It isn’t reversible from here, so if you delete something by mistake, the third party app will need to publish it again before it reappears.

Where this actually shows up

The most common example is a template chooser embedded inside the client portal. Once a customer picks the template they want, the app publishes that choice straight to the Data tab on the job, which is exactly how template and backdrop selections made by a customer end up recorded against their booking.

It’s not limited to customer choices though. Travel fee calculations can post data here too, and if you’ve got TaxJar enabled, the tax breakdown for a job shows up on the Data tab in the same way. Any connected third party can use this, not just the ones built specifically for customer facing choices.
