Connected accounts overview

Connected accounts is where you link your third party accounts and integrations, and configure how each one works. You can find it on the settings page.

Anything that talks to a service outside your account is set up here, whether that is the mailbox your emails send from, the number your texts come from, or the tools you use to track and reconcile.

How the page is organised

Connected accounts is split into tabs across the top, one for each type of integration. You work in the tab for the thing you are connecting rather than scrolling one long list.

Email

The email tab is where you configure the accounts your emails send from.

You can connect a Google account or a Microsoft account, use SendGrid, or configure a mailbox manually with SMTP and IMAP if you are with a provider that is not listed.

This is the connection that matters most. Everything you send a customer goes out through it, so it is the first thing to set up and the first thing to check when something is not arriving.

SMS

The SMS tab covers text messaging. You can connect Twilio, Webex or WhatsApp.

Social

The social tab connects the platforms your customers message you on, so those conversations come into your account rather than sitting in separate apps.

You can connect a Facebook page, Instagram, Google Chat and TikTok. Once connected, incoming messages from those platforms arrive alongside everything else.

The value here is having one place to answer from. Enquiries that arrive on social tend to get slower replies than emails, mostly because nobody is watching four inboxes as closely as they watch one.

Accounting

The accounting tab connects your bookkeeping. QuickBooks and Xero are both supported.

Connecting your accounting package saves the monthly job of moving figures across by hand, and removes the gap that opens up between what your account says you have invoiced and what your books say.

Analytics

The analytics tab is where you connect your tracking. Google Tag Manager, Hotjar and Meta Pixel are all supported.

These are worth setting up before you spend anything on advertising rather than after. Tracking added later cannot tell you what happened before you added it, so the earlier it goes in, the sooner you have data worth making decisions on.

Backdrops and templates

The backdrops and templates tabs connects external design libraries, so the designs they offer are available to choose from inside your account instead of being managed separately.

Keeping connections working

Most connections rely on you staying signed in to the third party service, and most break for the same handful of reasons. A password change, an expired authorisation, or somebody removing access at the other end.

If something that used to work stops, check the connection here before assuming the problem is elsewhere. It is the most common cause and the quickest to rule out.
