Set up a custom vanity domain

A vanity domain lets you use a subdomain from your own website instead of the system domain.

For example, instead of sending clients to a system-provided address, you could use clients.example.com. The vanity domain is still connected to the same system, but the link uses your own domain name.

Each brand can have its own vanity domain. This is useful if you manage multiple brands and want each one to have a separate client-facing address.

Before you begin

You need access to the DNS settings for your domain.

These settings are usually managed through your DNS host or website host. You will be adding a DNS record that tells your domain where the vanity subdomain should point.

Decide which subdomain you want to use before starting. In this example, the vanity domain is clients.example.com.

Find the vanity domain setting

1. Click your profile picture or initials in the bottom-left corner of the system.

2. Click Settings.

3. Click Branding.

4. Choose the brand you want to update.

   If you only have one brand, select that brand to load its settings. If you have several brands, choose the one that should use the vanity domain.

5. Scroll to the System Domain section.

6. Find Vanity Domain below it.

The System Domain is the address provided by the system. Keep this available, as it remains a way to access the system if there is ever a problem with your vanity domain.

Add the DNS record

Open your DNS host or website host and add a new DNS record for the subdomain you want to use.

Create a CNAME record for clients.example.com and point it to:

clients.boothbook.com

Use the TTL recommended by your DNS host, or choose any available TTL value.

Save the new DNS record before returning to the branding settings.

Add the vanity domain

Return to the Vanity Domain setting for the brand you are updating.

Enter the vanity domain you added in your DNS settings:

clients.example.com

Click Save.

The system will check the DNS record to make sure the vanity domain is pointed correctly. Once it is confirmed, the vanity domain can be used for that brand.

Troubleshooting DNS problems

If the system cannot confirm the vanity domain, start by checking the DNS record at your DNS host.

Make sure the record:

• Is a CNAME record

• Uses the vanity subdomain you entered in the branding settings

• Points exactly to clients.boothbook.com

• Has been saved in your DNS settings

Check the spelling of both addresses carefully. A small difference in the subdomain or CNAME target can prevent the domain from being confirmed.

You can still use the System Domain shown above the vanity domain setting while you check the DNS record. This gives you continued access if the custom address is not yet working.

Repeat these steps for each brand that needs its own vanity domain.
